Two teen-agers carrying machine guns with armor-piercing bullets were arrested Sunday as they were about to board a bus for Boston, police said.
Brian Green, 18, and a 15-year-old male companion whose name was not released because he is a minor are suspected of belonging to a cocaine- and crack-trafficking ring.
The ring uses buses and trains to transport the drugs along the eastern seaboard, said Port Authority Police Officer John Ryan.
Ryan said the two were about to board a Greyhound bus destined for Boston when police stopped them as possible runaways.
Police searched their luggage and found two Tec-9 machine guns, which are U.S.-made, Uzi-type weapons, Ryan said.
He said the guns were loaded with bullets that can pierce a bulletproof vest.
