PAUL HARVEY GIVES LISTENERS A REAL SNOW JOB ON BUFFALO A REAL SNOW JOB ON BUFFALO

Good morning ... this is Buffa lo. Paul Harvey ... you're full of ... sleet. That's right ... And, good day. Paul Harvey, the syndicated newsman with the staccato ca dence, opened his 8:30 a.m. news cast on WGR Radio with the news that Buffalo received a foot of snow. Wrong, Paul.

The Boston hills received around 6 inches of snow, but Buf falo got the same amount of snow that Harvey saw this morning when he broadcast live from Phoenix, Ariz. -- none. "We want a retraction," said Robert P. Carr, a vice president of the Greater Chamber of Com merce. "It just furthers the inaccu rate perception that we're snow bound from Oct. 1 to April 1." After fielding about 10 calls from Buffalonians who wanted the record set straight -- including Mayor Griffin and Carr -- Harvey researcher John Talmage vowed that Harvey would correct the er ror, which apparently was based on a UPI story. "I guess you take your weather pretty seriously," Talmage added.
